What is an IDP
What Is an International Driving Permit?
An International Driving Permit — often called an International Driver's License — is a standardized, multi-language translation of your driver's license, issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention or 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic where applicable. It lets traffic officers and rental counters abroad read your license details in their own language. It doesn't replace your domestic license — you carry both together.
